DAY 16: THE HOLY SPIRIT

YOUR MOST POWERFUL HELPER

Key Scripture:

“However I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [to be in close fellowship with you]” (John 16:7 AMP).

As Jesus was preparing His disciples for His ascension, He promised them that they would not be left alone. He would send the One who would take His place. Therefore, the moment we are born again not only is our spirit made alive to God, but the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us! The Holy Spirit is a person and not a spiritual force. He wants to have fellowship with you. This means He wants you to get to know you intimately, like a friend.

It is our aim as believers to develop our relationship with the Holy Spirit through close fellowship. He will lead and guide us in the ways we should go. If you need help, He is with you and will show you what to do. If you lack wisdom, He will teach you. If you are alone, feel misunderstood or depressed, He is the best counsellor. He comforts like no other, and His presence wipes away all fear, anxiety and worries. As we learn to depend on the Holy Spirit, His power is released in our lives and we learn how to live effectively in the Kingdom of God.

As you get to know the Holy Spirit you will discover that He wants to tell you about your true identity as a son of God. He wants to teach you what it means to call your heavenly father, “Daddy!”, so that you can discover that you are no longer an orphan, but a son

(Romans 8:14 - 17).

The Holy Spirit also loves to talk to you about Jesus. He will show you the wonders of Jesus and His marvelous grace. He likes to boast about Christ, and we can ask Him for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ.

The Holy Spirit’s role in our lives is to be our Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor and Strengthener. Remember the Holy Spirit is not a ‘force' but a real person and therefore it is essential to work on your relationship with Him daily.

Ask Him, daily, to help you in whatever situation you find yourself. A relationship with the Holy Spirit is essential to living a life of victory and overcoming!
