DAY 25: WALKING BY FAITH

Key Scripture:

“For we walk by faith, not by sight ”(2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV).

Most people live by ‘crisis management faith’. When things are getting difficult, they call on God to step in and rescue them. This is not how God designed us to live.

The Bible teaches us that we are saved by grace through faith. Not only are we saved by faith, but now as a new believer, we need to learn to walk by faith. It is so easy to get distracted by what is happening around us. Relational problems, financial challenges and health challenges. When we start looking at these circumstances, we begin to panic. It is at this point that it is tempting to have faith in ourselves and our own abilities. We feel we can solve the problem by working harder or making a loan at the bank or calling a friend. When we do this the focus of our faith moves from God back towards self. When we put faith in ourselves, things just seem to get worse. It is at this point that I need to put my focus back on hearing my Father’s voice.

Romans 10:17 says: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (NKJV). When I know what the word says about my circumstances, that releases faith in my heart towards God.

Walking by faith means that each day I turn my attention and focus to Jesus. I hear what He is saying. I have confidence towards Him and not towards my connections, my experiences, my finances or anything else that would tempt me to trust it.

I need to have faith in God not only when things are going bad, but also when they are going well. I don’t need to just walk by faith when there is a crisis in my life. Walking by faith means that I include God in everything daily. I am continually aware of His presence, and I talk to him about my life and thank him for wisdom in all things
