DAY 5: THE GREATEST GIFT

Key Scripture:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, but it is the gift of God”

(Ephesians 2:8 NKJV).

Imagine a courtroom scene...

You are guilty, and all the evidence is against you. The accuser has done a great job of proving your guilt. You know there is no way out of this, and your sentence is the death penalty.

Then something unusual happens, your advocate, the son of the judge, steps in and takes the full blame, and the responsibility for your sentence upon himself. The Judge turns to you. Instead of condemning you to death, he pronounces you free. Right there in front of you, he destroys all records of your wrongdoings. The whole courtroom gasps and suddenly there is great rejoicing. Tears are flooding down your face as you are trying to come to grips with what just happened. As you turn around to walk out, you realize that you are free, completely free.

This, my friend, is what God did for you! You were sinful, guilty, condemned to death. You were a prisoner and carried the yoke of slavery. Jesus came and paid a high price with His life. When you receive Him as Lord and Savior, He takes the judgment of sin upon Himself, so that you can be free. You are legally free!

"God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21NIV).

You did nothing to deserve this, it is called Grace. Grace is God’s unearned, unmerited favour. Grace is God giving to us what we don't deserve! The only thing you need to do is believe and receive it through faith. This is NOT a work of yourself, but a gift from God. Through grace and by faith is the only way we can be saved. When you trust in His grace, Jesus makes you righteous, so that you can be in right standing with God. All you need to do is receive it!

Ephesians 2 is clear that salvation is a gift. You can’t do anything to earn it. All you must do is confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus is the Lord and that He is your Savior (Romans 10:8-9).

Conversation Starter:

Have you made a decision to receive the gift of righteousness, and to confess Jesus as your saviour?

If you have made that decision, where and when did you make it?

Have you marked this day in your calendar is one of the most significant days in your life?
